Our breeding program is based on important characteristics such as strong, sound feet and legs; bold, courageous, willing and honest temperaments; and versatility, trainability and soundness of mind. We use genetic indices to calculate matings using show jumping and eventing show result data. Our breeding program is designed to perpetuate the sporting ability of the breed, thereby continuing the reputation for which the Irish Draught/Irish Sport Horse is known around the world. Hunting and jumping are in these horses' blood. Our Irish horses are bred to have natural sporting ability, and they love to jump obstacles.
Diamond Crest Farm strives to breed Pennsylvania-Bred Thoroughbreds that exhibit top quality performance on the racetrack. Our goal is to produce healthy, beautiful stock with strong and correct structure, plenty of heart, and a natural ability to run at top speed. We assess a Thoroughbred's racing potential by observing its overall structural balance, the correct conformation of its legs, its soundness of bone structure, its stamina and athleticism, the willingness of its gaits, and its perceived intelligence and trainability. In order to breed a quality racehorse, we use co-ancestry calculations and select for performance traits. We analyze pedigrees and statistics in great detail to select matings. Our goal at Diamond Crest Farm is to breed Thoroughbreds that are of supreme quality and clearly distinguished from any others.
